Hello my name is Abigail Baker. I have been involved in the world of aquatics for over 5 years. My early experiences include instructing at an adaptive swim program at Parkinson Rec Centre and lifeguarding/instructing at Morning Star Bible Camp for two girls camps. Some fun aquatic memories include lifeguarding during class field trips to the beach and on boating trips. After graduating high school, I began instructing and lifeguarding at the Kelowna Family YMCA in 2013. I worked there for over a year before joining WETS. Since working for WETS I have felt myself grow tremendously as an instructor and enjoy the continuous development for myself and for my students. What I enjoy most about teaching swim lessons is seeing how children develop as swimmers, and little men and women. My enthusiasm and dedication helps me to develop children into strong and confident swimmers.Currently I am taking my Bachelor of Science to one day teach science at a high school level. I also plan on travelling to become better educated about cultures and continue learning Spanish. I really do love to swim as well as other sports like soccer, skiing, and hiking. Reading, painting and cooking are also some of my favourite past times.
Hello, my name is Aysha. I have worked in aquatics for 9 years teaching swim lessons, water aerobics, lifesaving skills and coaching swim club. I am also a certified lifeguard, and for many years I was employed with the City of Surrey, and City of Kelowna. I have been swimming competitively since the age of 3 and have many outstanding swimming records in the British Columbia Summer Swimming Association. Some of the awards I am most proud of include my Provincial records from 2002 that are still outstanding.I feel swimming is a very important skill to grow up with and this is why I enjoy teaching lessons. I love to see the children grow strong in the water and improve in many ways. Some hobbies I enjoy doing when I am not at the pool include hiking with my two dogs, and working around the yard and house. My future goal with WETS is to help expand the business into the Southern Okanagan.
Being around the water, in the water and watching my Mom and the instructors teach swimming has been a part of my whole life. I love to swim and it is even more fun to help the swim students learn to love the water too!I have been a competitive swimmer for 6 seasons since I was 10 years old, and this year I became an assistant competitive swim coach. For 2 summers my uncle sent me to Berkley for a competitive swim camp lead by the USA Olympic swim coach, Teri McKeever. It was great! My other interests are soccer, hanging out with my friends, traveling and computer games.
